Sydney CBD’s Jardin St James are reaching out from their location in the forecourt of the city’s oldest church for a little hole-in-the-wall pop-up down in Potts Point, set to operate from today for the next month or so with a heavy, heady and delicious focus on the art of the French baguette. At least that’s the initial plan. with JSJ introducing a menu packed with delicious, long sandwiches served up alongside some top-notch coffee provided by the ever-reliable Little Marionette.
Designed for the lunchtime and evening crowds, the pop-up is located directly under the Coca-Cola sign bringing to life the vision of French owner Julien Besnard who has apparently been craving real baguettes in Sydney for the better part of a decade. He has teamed with a French baker to bring this menu to life, featuring fillings that read like a Francophile’s fantasy. Expect to see the likes of La Pro (prosciutto, potatoes, béchamel & rosemary), Le Cordon Bleu (chicken, ham, caramelised onions, creamy dijon sauce), and L’Italienne (mozzarella, tomatoes, pesto, lettuce) on the menu, with the big selling point being that all baguettes come with the option of additional hot raclette style fromage (a choice between raclette, swiss or blue) as well as sides of potato crisps and pickles.
