The Italian Wine & Food Festival Sydney is back and celebrating five years of festivities in a new venue: the Cutaway at Barangaroo Reserve. The festival starts Sunday August 27th with a marketplace full of Italian specialties and local produce as well as a wine garden and Italian entertainment.
Sydney’s best Italian chefs will be out in full force to create an event for all food lovers to enjoy. Punters can sample food from locals Giovanni Pilu (Pilu at Freshwater), Lucio Galletto (Lucio’s), Stefano Manfredi (Pizzaperta), Johnny di Francesco (400 Gradi), Nino Zoccali (Pendolino), Richard Ptacnik (Otto Ristorante) and Federico Zanellato (LuMi.)
Pop-up restaurants from well-known Sydney eateries Otto Ristorante, Lot.1 Sydney, 400 Gradi, Balla and Popolo will be serving up Italian favourites. The Smeg Main Stage will be hosting cooking demonstrations by various chefs and providores. Enjoy your pizza while taking in some pizza acrobatics.
Those who want to take the tastes of Italy home with them will be able to immerse themselves in an specialised marketplace bursting with Italian specialties like salumi, cheese, pasta, bread, olive oil and all the gelato imaginable.
Over 200 Italian wines, from varying regions will be available including a look into some Italian-centric Australian wine. Wine master classes will be available, from wine makers and importers, to sample and learn about some of the region’s best varieties at the Barolo Bar and Franciacorta Bar.
For those who are not wine inclined, perk up with a coffee from Espresso di Manfredi or try some Moretti Beer on tap. The Festival Bar will also be serving up Negroni’s and Venetian Spritz all day long.
