It’s not just the relaunch of Cargo Bar that has King Street Wharf buzzing right now. The area’s beloved Bungalow 8 has also been given a brand new lease on life, reopening from today with fresh new interiors shaped towards a beachside villa alongside a new program of entertainment, and new food & drink menus.
“We’re bringing Bugalow 8 back to life”, said Executive Chef Justin Wise. “We’ve created a menu and a space where you can easily imagine yourself in Tahiti or Bora Bora. There’s fresh salads with exotic fruits for a light bite or you can go all out and order the seafood platter or braised pork hock to share”.
That seafood platter Wise refers to should be one of the most popular options from the kitchen, with a generous assortment of mud crab, scallops, oysters, prawns cured salmon, bugs and squid. That’s being offered alongside pub-style classics like schnitzels and burgers as well as some other bigger share-styled platters.
In terms of drinks, the focus is now on summer-inspired cocktail jugs as well as a range of local and international wines and craft beers. The list worked up by the bartenders so far includes the Sloe Down Charlie (sloe gin, apricot brandy, fresh pressed watermelon juice, lime, mint and soda) and the Great Grape Cooler (grape kool air with green apple Smirnoff, shiraz, lemon, berries and lemonade).
