On April 21st, musical innovator and icon Prince passed away at the age of 57. Since then the tributes have flown in, there have been covers of his songs posted, tribute concerts planned and memorials attended. Now the Blender Gallery in Paddington, NSW are staging their own tribute, showcasing their collection of photographs of the late star.
The gallery’s collection features a wide range of prints, taken across Prince’s career, by photographers Lynn Goldsmith and Bob Gruen. The gallery also has exclusive access to feature a collection of photographs by Robert Whitman. Taken in 1977 these photographs were the result of Prince’s first professional photo shoot; and are considered some of the most iconic photographs of Prince.
The exhibition aims to capture and celebrate an artist who was known for his unique and flamboyant style and eclectic music; but also for his love of privacy. As with their David Bowie exhibition earlier in the year, the exhibited prints will all be up for sale to the public.
