Singapore Airlines have announced they are increasing their services to California from October, with a new non-stop service to San Francisco on their brand new A350s, and a second daily flight to Los Angeles.
From 23rd October 2016, the award winning carrier will commence daily non-stop flights between Singapore and San Francisco. Singapore will be the second airline to offer the route, with United Airlines having commenced flights at the start of this month. The route – which at 13,593km is close to 16 hours leaving Singapore and 17 hours returning – is the third longest in the world, though it will be the longest flight offered by the brand new A350-900s, which will exclusively serve Singapore passengers on this route. United currently offer the service on their 787-900s.

For those playing at home, the two flights which sit in the top two spots are Emirates’ recently introduced Auckland to Dubai service (14,203km), and Qantas’ Dallas/Fort Worth to Sydney service (13,804km).
In addition to this non-stop service – which is the first non-stop service to the US that Singapore Airlines has offered since discontinuing their direct Los Angeles and New York routes (previously the two longest flights in the world, with the latter set to return in 2018) – 23rd October will also see the airline introduce a second flight from Singapore to Los Angeles via South Korea (Seoul, Incheon). This is in addition to the existing daily service to Los Angeles via Tokyo (Narita).
