Watchmen, 7Mate, 9:30 pm AEST

Set in an alternate 1985 in which Richard Nixon is in his fifth term as president, a group of retired superheroes reunite when one of their colleagues is mysteriously murdered. If you’re a fan of superhero films but want something grittier and a bit less generic, Watchmen is the film for you.

Gotham, Ch. 9, 8:30 pm AEST

Making its Australian premiere this Sunday on Channel 9 in a double episode feature, Gotham is the latest addition to the ever popular Batman saga. Chronicling the city of Gotham prior to the rise of the dark knight, this new series follows rookie cop, James Gordon as he attempts to solve various cases around Gotham. Naturally, his first case is the murder of upper-class citizens, Thomas and Martha Wayne.

Super 8, Eleven 8:30 pm AEST

Directed by J.J. Abrams, this sci-fi masterpiece harks back to the glory days of Spielberg and Zemeckis. Set in the summer of 1979, Super 8 follows a group of friends who begin to suspect that all is not well in their small town when they witness a catastrophic train crash.
