Disney announces title for Star Wars Episode VII on Twitter.

Star-Wars-The-Force-Awakens

Star Wars fans responded with a mix of happiness and disappointment when it was announced on Twitter this week that the anticipated Star Wars franchise’s Seventh episode would called The Force Awakens. Disney simultaneously announced that the film’s principal photography has been completed. Naturally, this is a film with a lot of post production and its release is still more than a week away.

Twitter blew up as soon as this announcement was made, with The Force Awakens immediately becoming a trending topic as soon as the news was revealed on both Walt Disney and Star Wars accounts.

The tweets said, simply, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens has completed principal photography.”

The film is set to have a worldwide release on December 18, 2015. It has been directed by J.J Abrams, who recently revived the Star Trek franchise and brought mind bending series like Lost to the small screen.
