Nominees for the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards has been announced, reflecting upon the year that was in the world of entertainment. In celebrating the best cinema and TV had to offer, the January 11th ceremony comes off of an amazing year in cinema with films like Richard Linklater’s Boyhood and Morten Tyldum’s The Imitation Game – both of which are nominated for Best Motion Picture (Drama) – proving that innovation in modern cinema has been far from flat lately.
Birdman, which will be in Australian cinemas next month, has notched up an impressive seven nominations [very well deserved] and Boyhood has five nods, while there are some glaring snubs in terms of television, namely The Walking Dead and Mad Men.
Australian singer Sia appears in the list of nominees, getting a nod in ‘Best Original Song – Motion Picture’ for her work on Annie, alongside artists like Lana Del Rey, John Legend, and Lorde.
