A&E’s Bates Motel has two excellent seasons to speak highly for the vision creators Carlton Cuse, Kerry Ehrin and Anthony Cipriano have used to turn this classic thriller into a prolonged and in-depth psychological timeline. Freddy Highmore’s Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga’s Norma Bates are put under the microscope and their unhealthy relationship has been slowly unraveling in what has been one of the best television shows to debut in the past few years, and it’s only just begun to get really intense.
At the end of Season 2 we were all but confirmed to be witnessing Norman’s disturbed adoption of his mother’s persona in some sort of dissociative personality disorder and now as Season 3 nears we can only expect Norman to crawl closer to that point of no return.
The show is obviously based on the Hitchcock classic Psycho, and the most memorable scene from that 1960 thriller is unarguably what has become known as simply ‘the shower scene’, a scene in which a hapless young blonde (Janet Leigh) is stabbed to death.
Our 30 second sneak peak at a scene from Bates Motel teases that we might just see something similar go down this year. In this teaser, titled ‘Peep Hole’, Norman watches hotel guest (Tracy Spiridakos; from NBC’s short-lived Revolution) through a peep hole as she prepares to hop in the shower. Check it out below:
Bates Motel is scheduled for a U.S premiere on 9th March 2015
