Baz Lurhmans Hip-Hop series scores its leading lady

Herizen

Baz Luhrman’s venture into the humble beginnings of Hip-Hop culture is in full swing, with The Get Down casting its first female lead.

Marking her acting debut, singer/songwriter Herizen F. Guardiola has been selected to play Mylene Cruz, a motivated young woman with a spectacular voice and aspirations to become a disco star – an ambition her deeply religious parents don’t approve of.

Herizen will join Justice Smith , Shameik Moore, Skylan Brook and Tremaine Brown Jr as Baz explores New York City and its troubled youth as they give rise to the art of Hip-Hop.

The Get Down will debut on Netflix in 2016.
