The NSW Emerging Filmmakers Fund is now open for applications, with $90,000 available to filmmakers to create their projects.
The program, a combined effort of Metro Screen and Screen NSW, aims to provide new filmmakers with support and funding to complete short from projects. Three applicants will be provided with $30,000 each to execute their projects, which must be 15 minutes in length.
“The Emerging Filmmaker Fund has, over the past decade, identified and supported some of NSW’s most exciting young filmmakers, putting them on the important first step of a professional career,” said Maureen Barron, the Cheif Executive of Screen NSW. “The short films created under the Fund have screened at major film festivals around the world, won dozens of film prizes and have been powerful calling cards for the filmmakers who’ve made them.”
The projects in the EFF will be executive produced by Causeway Films, the studio behind acclaimed horror film The Babadook. Sam Jennings of Causeway Films spoke of the company’s enthusiasm for supporting the program. “Having just seen that all three EFF films from last year have had their world premieres over the last week, one in competition at Cannes, we couldn’t be more aware of how important it is to find and grow exceptional talent through short filmmaking and to introduce new Australian voices to the world stage.”
Applications are open and will be accepted until Friday, 31 July. More information and application forms can be found on the Metro Screen website.
