Oh joyous occasion. HBO has announced that the network has just signed a four-year production pact with one of the sharpest, wittiest television personalities of the past few years, Jon Stewart. The deal will have him focusing on short-form digital content for the company’s HBO Go and HBO NOW channels, with the possibility of other film and TV programs further on in the relationship.
In the official statement released to U.S media today Stewart seemed very optimistic about the deal, “I’m so excited to be working with Richard [Plepler], Michael and the entire HBO family… Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me. I’m pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again.”
Little details are known about what Stewart has planned for this new material, but if The Daily Show is anything to go by, we can expect an even wider scope of his smart, witty satire thanks to the very in-touch, progressive aesthetic HBO are known for. Though, it is known that Stewart is working with L.A-based company OTOY, a cloud graphics agency which has done motion-capture work for films like Spider-Man 3 and The Social Network.
