The popular New York film festival, Tribeca, has added some important films to its roster this year. In it’s 15th anniversary, the film festival founded by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal will see the premiere of 43 never before seen films.
One of the most touted projects associated with the festival is Elvis and Nixon, a film starring Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey, which will reflect the true events that took place in the White House 1970, when Elvis Presley requested President Nixon grant him a Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs badge, so he could travel legally through airports carrying guns and narcotics. The script is being written by Joey Sagal Hanala Sagal and Cary Elwes and the film will be directed by Lezal Johnson.
Katie Holmes will also make her directorial debut with an adaption of Annie Weatherwax’s popular novel All We Had done by screenwriter Josh Boones, and starring Holmes alongside Luke Wilson. Other features include Jason Sudenkis and Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams against another in The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and another Michael Shannon film focusing on a troubled fathers gambling addiction Wolves.
Tom Hanks will be leading another of the festivals most anticipated projects, A Hologram for the King. The film will be based on David Eggers novel of the same name and will tell the story of a desperate businessman attempting to secure the IT contract for a massive complex in the middle of a Saudi Arabian desert.
