Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice blows away box office competition

Despite mixed responses from critics, Warner Bros’ superhero showdown film has stormed box offices both locally and abroad.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opened #1 at the Australian box office with over $3.3 million on opening day. It’s a big debut that leaves last year’s local records by Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World and Fast and Furious 7 in the dust.

On top of this, the film’s estimated $424.1 million in global takings make it the largest ever opening for DC comics film and a contender for the biggest March opening ever.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is in cinemas across Australia now in 2D, 3D and Imax.
