Just as Disney Infinity 3.0 looked to be the recipient of some exciting prospects, Disney has announced that they are officially done with the video game.
Disney Infinity, which lets you collect separately sold figures in order to use them in game has seen a cavalcade of Disney owned properties, including classic Disney characters, Marvel and Star Wars come to life on various consoles.
After two more releases in May & June (Alice Through the Looking Glass & Finding Dory, respectively) there will be no more updates or releases.
“Our goal for Disney Infinity was to bring the best of Disney storytelling to life in homes around the world, and with your support we accomplished that,” GM John Blackburn wrote on their blog. “We hope you had as much fun playing the game as we had making it.”
Subsequently, the Utah based studio responsible for Infinity, Avalanche Software, has been permanently shut down resulting in 300 job losses.
Although this is the end for Infinity, Disney have stated that they do plan to continue licencing their properties.
