FX Network has confirmed that it’s moving forward with its proposed Mayans-centric Sons of Anarchy spin-off, with the series entering script development.
Creator of Sons, Kurt Sutter will return and he has enlisted Elgin James who will write the pilot.
“I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice,” said Sutter of James, “Because I didn’t think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice.”
It is intended to be a “dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens,” said James.
There is no word yet on whether any of the Mayans or Sons for that matter will be involved with the series.
