There’s an early air of Oscar potential generating from Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood’s next film, Sully, after the trailer premiered earlier this week.
The film to be directed by Clint Eastwood, will follow the story of heroic US pilot Chesley Sullenberger, who made history when he safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 on New York’s Hudson River in 2009, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew aboard. The film will delve into the aftermath of Sullenberg’s infamous landing.
Sullenberger, or ‘Sully’ as he’s known, was forced to undertake the lowest landing of any jet in history when both of the plane’s engines failed after they were hit by a flock of geese. The landing became subject to ongoing investigation and whether Sully could have safely returned to the airport was the question imposed.

Sully is due for release on September 8th.
