Finding Dory just keeps swimming. Excuse me and my ridiculous cliche but the sequel to 2003’s animated smash is still making big money, earning AU$5.5 million over the last week.
Pixar’s maritime flick has surpassed Finding Nemo’s domestic figure of US$339 million, currently sitting on a cool US$389 million. Time is the only obstacle keeping Dory from becoming the highest grossing Pixar movie of all time, a distinction currently held by Toy Story 3.
Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson entered the fray at second spot as Central Intelligence opened with AU$4.8 million while Spielberg’s Roald Dahl adaptation The BFG debuts at third spot earning AU$2.6 million.
Independence Day: Resurgence has dropped a couple of spots but is still sitting above AU$2 million and Ice Age: Collision Course was unable to compete with Pixar’s top dog, earning AU$1.6 million.
