Magic: The Gathering fans will descend on Sydney today for the official Magic Pro Tour event. Running from today, Friday 5 August to late on Sunday 7 August, the event will bring together the very best Magic players in the country to compete for a place in the World Championships.
Magic, of course, is the incredibly popular collectible card game that has players assume the role of wizards and duel for supremacy with spells and creatures. The game’s deep strategic elements have made it a competition favourite, and has inspired countless other games (Hearthstone, Scrolls and Elder Scrolls: Legends among the most obvious).
The event will kick off at 9am at Sydney’s Olympic Park and the prize pool is no joke — $250,000 is up for grabs over the next three days.
