It was announced yesterday that The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) will partner up with Sydney’s Ritz Cinema and will present a digital restoration of 1991 film Proof. The film will be screened on Wednesday November 9 with all box office proceeds going towards the NFSA Restores program. After the film screening, director Jocelyn Moorhouse (The Dressmaker), actor Hugo Weaving and NFSA Ambassador Margaret Pomeranz will all take part in a Q&A session.
Hugo Weaving says, “Proof marked a before and after in my life, and launched the careers of three incredible talents: Jocelyn Moorhouse, and my co-stars Russell Crowe and Genevieve Picot. Please join me and enjoy the NFSA’s digital restoration of Proof, back on the big screen.”
The digital restoration of Proof was made possible due to the donations provided by the Australian public. With more funds coming through, NFSA will be doing more digital restores in the future.
Margaret Pomeranz says, “As a film lover and passionate supporter of our industry, I invite you to be part of this one-night-only event, and support the preservation our national film heritage.”
