Saints Row developer Volition are having a great time with their in-universe spin-off Agents of Mayhem and the game isn’t even out yet. The latest trailer introduces each of the game’s three lead heroes and shows off a little of its gameplay.
The trailer’s tone is very much in-line with the kind of over-the-top satire of Team America: World Police, featuring a porn actor turned super cop, a sky pirate (!!!) turned law woman and burly demolitions expert. Seriously, listen to the guitar riff that closes out the trailer. A better “we resemble but are legally distinct from” version of the Team America theme we’ve never heard.
The vibe we’re getting from this latest trailer is very similar to Saints Row IV, in which the player was bestowed with myriad superpowers in a bizarre but very amusing riff on open-world superpower titles like Crackdown and inFamous.
Frankly, we can’t wait to spend more time with it. Agents of Mayhem releases August 18 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
