There’s a South Park movie singalong happening in one of Sydney’s most iconic theatres

Leave your swear jars at home because the legends over at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace in the Sydney suburb of Cremorne are set to turn their cinema – one of Sydney’s oldest and most iconic – into a room full of foul mouths and dirty language. That’s because South Park is coming back to the big screen with a singalong version of Bigger, Longer & Uncut – for one night only! Genius.

That’s right, you and all your friends will get the chance to sing classics like “Blame Canada” (once performed by Robin Williams at the Oscars!) and “Cartman’s Mom is a Big Fat Bitch” at the top of your lungs. And we can’t forget the film’s unforgettable “Shut Your Fucking Face, Uncle Fucker”.

It all might seem a bit strange, but remember – these are the guys (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) who wrote The Book of Mormon, which has won ALL the Tony’s, will probably win a bunch of Helpmann’s and is one of the biggest, and most expletive-filled shows in Broadway history. And let’s not forget that “Blame Canada” was Oscar nominated. Low brow comedy this is not. Well, it kind of is. But it’s also genius. And the film’s comments on censorship (a genius ploy at predicting the film’s own controversy at the time of its release) still resonate today.

The sing-a-long screening of South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut will take place at the Orpheum on July 28th at 9pm. Head HERE for tickets and more details.
