Interview: Rapture director Ben Selkow on 2 Chainz, artistry and hip hop

Gearing up for the new Netflix and Mass Appeal collaboration, Rapture – a docuseries analysing hip hop through the perspectives and lives of several artists across generations – we stopped by the red carpet preview at SXSW Film Festival to catch up with a few members of the cast and crew.

The series, which premieres on Netflix in just a few days, is split into different episodes with many individual entries helmed by a different director and focusing on a different artist. Ben Selkow is one of those directors, crafting the episode about College Park emcee 2 Chainz which should no doubt be one of the highlights of the eight episodes.

In the below interview, Selkow lets us know what 2 Chainz very unique story in hip hop can teach us about the art and the culture, as well as the artistic merit of hip hop in general.

Rapture will premiere on Netflix on the 30th March 2018.
