When it comes to music festivals and conferences, we often get tour diaries happening with bands. On this occasion, we thought it would be fun to see New York’s CMJ from the perspective of Brooklyn locals Laura and Greg! Check out what they got up to, what bands they loved and how their showcases panned out…
Our first show of the week was a dinner party hosted by Taittinger Champagne and curated by Cherry Bombe Magazine, at an apartment in Tribeca.
Quickly after our set we headed over to our showcase at Pete’s Candy Store in Greenpount Brooklyn. Pete’s is a neighborhood staple and a super cool little train-car room.
We caught a bunch of great shows throughout the week and got to play with some awesome bands too. Some highlights included// Diet Cig, Salt Cathedral (above), The Dirty Nil (below), Ezra Furman and The Boyfriends, Titas Andronicas (second below), Oh Pep and New Myths.
Next up was the Sounds Australia/Cyber PR annual wrap party that took place in a Brooklyn Brownstone (photo above). It was a super chill and fun show to play and being a half Aussie band, we were excited to get on board.
Our last show of the week was down at Fulton Stall Market with Paper Garden Records and Little Water Radio. The entire showcase was broadcasted live and should be online soon at http://littlewaterradio.com
We made special drop cards for CMJ with free downloads for a new demo, a couple of tracks from our LP Forever For Sure and a live track we recorded at Daytrotter earlier this year.
