The Kurzel family is on a hot streak this year, with Jed Kurzel added to the film family’s accolades in winning the top prize at this year’s Screen Music Award! Winning the Feature Score of the Year Award for his work on Slow West, a film that won much acclaim at Sundance, Kurzel claimed the award for the second time. Back in 2011, Kurzel won the same award for his score for Snowtown, another dynamic and memorable film.
The awards ceremony, held at the Melbourne Recital Centre, saw hundreds in attendance to celebrate the work of some talented composers who’ve done some great work over the past year. Other winners at the Screen Music Awards included David Hirschfelder, who won Best Music for a Television Series or Serial for Banished and Best Soundtrack Album for The Water Diviner, as well as Burkhard Dallwitz, who took home the award for Best Music for a Mini-Series or Telemovie for his work on The Secret River.
