Dexter’s Michael C. Hall stands in for David Bowie to perform “Lazarus” on “Colbert”

Now this was a bit confusing; David Bowie has released a new song of his forthcoming (pronounced “Blackstar”) album, and it’s the title track from his off-Broadway production “Lazarus”. It was performed live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, but it wasn’t Bowie who was behind the microphone – of course – it was his apparently new persona, acclaimed actor Michael C. Hall.

The renowned actor, from Dexter and Six Feet Under, introduced himself as Bowie’s latest persona on a TV teaser before the surprisingly stunning performance, which Hall nailed with a spot-on Bowie impression and a brilliant musical ensemble from Bowie’s production.

David Bowie’s ★ will be released next month
