There are few duos in hip-hop as dynamic as the classic pairing of Wu Tang’s Method Man and Def Squad’s Redman, two formidable emcees who have endeared across music, film, TV. Their trips down to Australia have been much too far and few between, but they have always hit hard with their off-the-wall live shows and rich stock of hits, as a collective dating all the way back to 1999’s classic Blackout!. Heads can rest easy knowing that they’ll be experiencing that all again when Meth and Red head down to Australia this September* October for a five-date tour that will see them playing shows across Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

The prolific rappers have enjoyed massive, credible careers as solo artists – Meth being one of the first Wu Tang members to show that he could stand on his own as well with Tical and its follow ups, and Red releasing classic after classic starting with 1992’s funkafied Whut? Thee Album – but it wasn’t until they teamed up that hip hop fans around the world could hear the undeniable chemistry between the two, resulting in classic cuts like “Da Rockwilder” and “How High” – the latter also lending to the name of their first stoner movie, which eventually led to their very own sitcom (which sadly only produced one season).
Blackout! and its follow up, Blackout! 2, will be showcased heavily on this tour, the duo performing tracks exclusively from the two records as they kick off in Adelaide on 8th September and finish in Brisbane on the 14th September. Let’s hope that they have some space to sneak in a few solo tracks as well, and maybe even something from Redman’s new side project 1000 Volts.
