Over the weekend, as they celebrated the release of the Sophomore LP Treasure House – and just a few hours before they were set to play their first show in support of it at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain – I sat down with UK duo Cat’s Eyes. Made up of Faris Badwan (best known for his work with The Horrors) and Rachel Zeffira, the alt-pop pair impressed with their self-titled debut in 2011, and this follow-up, which was released last Friday, has done the same, proving that good things do indeed come to those who wait*.
During our chat, Rachel and Faris reflect on the time it took for this album to see the light of day, revealing the record had been finished for a year and contained music that pre-dates their debut self-titled LP. They talk about their live production, the chances of getting them down to Australia, discovering new music in Barcelona – Faris lets us in on his new favourite band out of the UK – and much, much more…

*For those playing at home, they did release a soundtrack for The Duke of Burgundy last year, so it hasn’t technically been a five year wait between music from the group, but we weren’t including this fantastic composition amongst their catalogue for the purposes of this article. Definitely check it out alongside the rest of their repertoire though.
Treasure House is out now. Head to their official website for more details.
