Huge news for the Secret Sounds Group today, with the news that Live Nation Entertainment has acquired a huge 51% share in the Aussie company led by Paul Piticco and Jess Ducrou.
Of course, the biggest shift to come out of the announcement is that beloved Australian festivals Splendour in the Grass and the Falls Music and Arts Festivals are now under the Live Nation Ent. umbrella, joining a global portfolio boasting some of the world’s biggest events including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds, Governors Ball and more.
Splendour, which celebrated its 16th year this year, has welcomed the likes of Kanye West, Florence and The Machine, The Strokes, Blur and more to its hallowed Byron Bay festival grounds over the years, while Falls has long held a favourable spot in the hearts of Aussie festival-goers for over two decades, offering unique New Year’s celebrations out on the coast.
Says Piticco and Ducrou of the new acquisition, “We started Secret Sounds with the sole mission of introducing Australians to the best artists, events and music possible, and Live Nation is the perfect partner to help us take this goal to the next level.”
The new partnership and acquisition also takes in Secret Sounds’ touring, PR, sponsorship, artist management and domestic businesses. It does, however, exclude Dew Process and Create Control Record labels, Dew Process Publishing, plus interests in the North Byron Parklands site and The Triffid in Brisbane.
