What a treat. Melbourne boys The Smith Street Band last night dropped their new single ‘Birthdays’, an accompanying video, and today have announced the release of their upcoming album, More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me.
Covering ground familiar to TSSB, we see the video covering technology, growing up, and love. And Wil Wagner, of course. The song itself delivers more of Wil Wagner’s distinctive narrative, which we’ve grown to know and love, as well as new territories for the band, featuring guest vocals from Jess Locke, and synth. Yep. TSSB and synth.
The highly anticipated record, a follow up to 2014’s breakthrough Throw Me In The River, will also feature single “Death To The Lads”. It’s bound to be something amazing if the world class production is anything to go by, featuring credits to Jeff Rosenstock, Jack Shirley (Joyce Monor, Deafheaven), John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and Greg Calbi (Bob Dylan, Ramones, Bruce Springsteen).
More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me will be released on Friday, 7th April via Pool House Records/Remote Control Records. I think this single might be TSSB’s Valentine’s Day present to us all.
