Adelaide trio Grenadiers gave us the first taste of their upcoming third album last week with “Suburban Life”, a big, driving track with punchy guitars, shout-along refrain and persistent rhythm.
As if the track wasn’t enough of a gift, the trio today dropped an accompanying video, which looks like it’s come straight off mid 90s RAGE. It’s firmly Aussie and very lo-fi, filmed at the Gillman Speedway in suburban Adelaide.
Frontman Jesse reveals it was a quick turnaround from being a single to being a premiered clip,
About their latest jam, ‘Suburban Life’, frontman Jesse has said there was a fast turn around between choosing it as a single, shooting the clip, and getting it out into the world. “We shot the thing over the space of a few hours, there’s nothing around there except the city’s main rubbish tip and a bunch of metalworks factories … We got some cars kicking up some dust while we played, taking in the rich aroma of festering rubbish from the nearby tip, petrol and a whole lot of bug spray.”
If this tongue-in-cheek, rollicking track is a taste of what’s to come on their upcoming album, we can’t wait. Thankfully they’ve announced an East-coast tour to accompany this single release: Grenadiers are renowned for their no-nonsense and hard hitting rock shows.
