Talk about bursting onto the scene. Melbourne’s very new and very, very good Press Club are a force to be reckoned with, the small handful of gigs that they’ve played bringing glowing praise from all sides. They’ve only just released their first single, and my god. Wow.
The four Brunswick locals deliver frenetic and commanding punk, ‘Headwreck’ reflecting a relationship with someone who doesn’t respect you. Vocalist Natalie Foster proclaims the message with a raw power, “Keeping all these changes in my head it’s alright // one day I’ll make it to the end of the line // I’m not gonna give up easy I’ll give everything I know”.
Independently released, ‘Headwreck’ is the first single from this group, the video shot in a Collingwood warehouse in a single take. Mates of the band Nick Manuell and Will Maconachie captured the assertive and abrasive energy of the band flawlessly – check it out below.
Press Club are playing a single launch at The Old Bar with special guests Darts and Rad Island, Saturday 8th July. If you’re in Melbourne, come and be impressed.
