It’s been a minute since we’ve seen or heard from Pluto Jonze, but true to form, when he makes his return on to radars, he makes it brilliantly and vibrantly known.
On new single “Swingin’ Like Bowie”, Jonze has given us his first piece of new music in three years. The result? A great tribute to the late music icon and a trip out into the Aussie outback. Combining stylistic cues from the “Let’s Dance” film clip and Midnight Oil’s “Blue Sky Mine”, there’s a fun throwback vibe to “Swingin’ Like Bowie” and features all the exuberance Jonze has shown off on previous releases.
Of the shoot, Jonze remembers his trip out to the community of Yuendumu in the NT. “I met this local music producer named Donovan playing slap bass on his porch one day. We jammed a few times together and I told him I needed a film clip for one of my songs. He helped me quite a lot with locations and getting the right community permission to film. It was an amazing experience and I am very grateful to the local people and to Donovan.”
