Music Industry Charity Soccer Tournament ‘Music Copa’ Returns for 2017

Musica Copa, the Aussie music industry’s charity 5-a-side football tournament returns on December 1st, celebrating their fifth anniversary at the KIKOFF soccer Centre in Marrickville. An all-star line-up of artists drop their pics to put on the spikes and play football.

Spectators are welcome at this community event, and will have the opportunity to share a Heineken with their favourite musos in the Player’s Lounge. They’ll also enjoy a carb-load with gourmet burgers from the maestros at Mary’s. All this plus a primo selection of DJs will be keeping our vibes up throughout the day.

Each team will be playing to win money for their nominated charity so the stakes are high! Since the establishment of the event, Music Copa has raised an incredible $40,000 for charity – with last year’s winners Lucky Ent raising 47,000 for the Reach Foundation. Runners up Universal Music also won a fantastic $3,000 for Musicians Making A Difference. To see what amazing charities have been nominated this year head HERE. Thanks to the generous contributions from our teams and partners at Nike, Tito’s Vodka, Heineken, DJ Warehouse, Mary’s Burgers, and Recovery Water, Musica Copa are hoping to raise even more money for the selected charities.

The masterminds behind the passion project Musica Copa are footy friends and business partners Paul Stix (UNDR Ctrl) and Martin Novosel (Boundary Sounds / Purple Sneakers) – who are already gearing up for their most exciting tournament yet. Stix says of the event, “For many people in the music industry (including myself), Musica Copa has become one of the favourite events on the annual calendar. It’s a nice milestone to get to 5 years, and Martin and I are really excited to welcome new teams Spotify, Nike All Stars, Of Leisure and Inertia Music to the tournament.”

“We’re introducing two divisions for the first time this year and an improved open mixed team format to encourage even more female players this year. We’re humbled by the support Musica Copa receives from our industry friends, and we hope to raise as much money as we can for this year’s wonderful charities.”
