The National have had a huge year. Their critically acclaimed new album Sleep Well Beast has just received two Grammy nominations (for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package) and the band are currently embarking a massive US tour. The National are also due to play some epic shows in Australia in February next year, bringing the new album and with it the new single, “Dark Side of the Gym”.
The video for this song is as simple yet emotional as the song. Choreographed, directed and starring NYC Ballet Resident Choreographer and soloist Justin Peck and costars Patricia Delgado. The video sees the pair dancing around a hall filled with balloons. The intimate music video pairs with the song like cheese and fine wine, with the collapse of the reverie matching perfectly to the collapse of the song.
