Overnight at The Langham, the official program for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival was launched to a room of artists, media, sponsors and other industry folk who had gathered to see what Artistic Director Michael Tortoni and his team have curated for the festival’s 21st year.
Masters of Jazz are to be highlighted, while the new guard of contemporary jazz and music are also going to be explored through the MIJF program; the iconic Branford Marsalis will open the festival at the Melbourne Recital Centre, while French musician Madeleine Peyroux, Gretchen Parlato and Christian McBride will also perform throughout.
Club Sessions and late night gigs will be strewn throughout Melbourne during the MIJF, with artists including KNOWER, Yemen Blues, Chris Dave & The Drumhedz and more ensuring that the good vibes continue well into the night.
With over 100 events fleshing out this year’s Melbourne International Jazz Festival, there’s plenty for fans to get around both in the city, and further out west. MzRizk‘s curated Jazz Out West program sees the likes of Thando, Cool Out Sun, KillaHertz and more perform and bring together experiences not necessarily found at your run of the mill jazz festival.
