Brissy has long been home to talented songwriters and this week, Sometime Sonny proves once again that belongs in this tight crop of musicians producing some great music out of the east coast.
His new single comes in “Have a Heart” – melodic, catchy from the onset and confidently delivered, Sometime Sonny (project of songwriter Dave Campbell) continues to flex his muscle as a natural storyteller and vocalist. Working with Mid Ayr’s Hugh Middleton, the single has Sometime Sonny reflecting on heavy night before, the morning after.
“I woke up with a heavy head one morning thinking about what I had done the night before,” Campbell explains. “I stumbled out of bed after only a few hours’ sleep (I can never sleep in after a big night, so annoying…), grabbed my guitar and set about writing a song to make myself feel better. …I could be the odd one out, but I’m pretty sure other people make pacts with themselves, right? “Have a Heart” is based around that disappointing feeling when you break one of those pacts.”
Check it out.
Sometime Sonny will be performing “Have a Heart” at shows in Brisbane this month and in September – find out where you can catch him, below.
