What draws you as performers to the Adelaide Fringe and The Garden of Unearthly Delights?
It’s the heart of the action for the arts in Australia and the Garden is our carnie family home. We all met while on tour in Adelaide and the champagne fuelled sequinned covered adventures we had here solidified our friendship. Fringe Wives became a thing in the Garden as well, we were all doing shows and looking out for one another, we’d bring in dinner for dressing room picnics, meet for knock offs and debrief our shows or carry on into the night. For us it’s the Adelaide audiences so hungry for new work that excites and inspires and the community of artists that come together are what keeps bringing us back.
Have you performed at the Adelaide Fringe before?< The three of us have been bringing shows to Adelaide since 2010 (EastEnd Cabaret, WOMANz, Sexytime!, Strong Female Character), but this is the first festival together as a trio (Fringe Wives Club) and we are pumped! So many great memories and reasons for coming back; from getting sloshed at the Garden's Espresso Martini bar, to dancing till our shoes broke, to being inspired by all the amazing artists and the work that get's created here. I think though last year seeing Hot Brown Honey and dancing out into the night so filled with love, hope and a drive to change to world stands out. Tell us a little about the show you’re bringing to the Adelaide Fringe (and have you performed it elsewhere recently)?
Glittery Clittery is a conSENSUAl late night comedy cabaret the celebrates all those who have, identify with, are curious about or just wanna get amongst a Vulva! We are bringing our own sequinned covered rebellion to the Garden this year, Glamour + Activism = #Glamtavism for a world in dire need. We just did a preview run at Perth FringeWorld where we were nominated for Best Cabaret and played to packed out rowdy crowds (just the way we like it…like great sex, Comedy is better with lots of whooping and cheering). This show came about from receiving the Moosehead Award this year, a Melbourne Comedy Festival grant that recognises and supports work that pushes the boundaries of what comedy can be.
If there was one central impression you’d want to leave a crowd with, what would it be?
We’re in this together so let’s party and change the world!
Glittery Clittery runs at Le Cascadeur in the Garden of Unearthly Delights. Find out more about the season here.
