Broadway actor, American Idol finalist and YouTube star Todrick Hall has announced his musical Straight Outta Oz will be hitting Australian shores in June, following a run of shows in North America and Europe.
Straight Outta Oz is a twisted take on L. Frank Baum’s classic creation – The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The show, featuring 20 original songs, follows Hall’s adventures from small town Texas to the dazzling lights of “Oz Angeles”. It’s part adaptation, part autobiography, and shows how a Hollywood hopeful can navigate success all whilst dodging falling houses, wicked witches and the notorious “Poppyrazzi”.
Todrick Hall might be a recognisable name to some of you from his time on American Idol, or thanks to his YouTube videos. But he’s also made a name for himself on Broadway, starring in the Tony Award winning musical Memphis, appearing in The Colour Purple and is currently appearing in Kinky Boots on Broadway.
The show is billed as being great for the family, with big musical numbers, creative choreography, dazzling costumes and importantly a strong social message.
Straight Outta Oz kicks off in Perth on June 1st, before travelling through to Brisbane, Sydney and finishing up in Melbourne on the June 5th. Tickets for Perth, Sydney and Melbourne are now on sale, and can be found HERE. Tickets for the Brisbane show go on sale Friday 24th February.
