AusSpeedruns and Five Star Games team up for The Sonic State of Origins Plus clash

In honour of Sonic’s 32nd birthday and to celebrate the launch of Sonic Origins Plus, Five Star Games has announced The Sonic State of Origins Plus clash, in which Sonic the Hedgehog speedrunners will face off at Fortress Sydney on the 23rd of June.

Each of the competitors and parties involved in the event will be donating proceeds to Cure Cancer and their gaming-inspired initiative, Game On Cancer. The Australian charity looks to, bring gamers in the community together in order to fund the progress of cancer research.

Competitors will pick sides between NRL State of Origin teams Queensland and New South Wales and race and score points across 8 events designed by Sonic the Hedgehog speedrunner Werster.

Queensland will wear red jerseys and be represented by their mascot Knuckles as their mascot, as Captian Raikou and teammates Stylonide & The8bitbeast face the New South Wales team wearing blue and consisting of Captain Werster, and teammates 3Pills and LaceyStripes along with their mascot Sonic. The winning team will take home the brand-new Sonic State of Origins Plus shield.

AusSpeedruns co-ordinator Ethan Levy commented on the competition, stating, “AusSpeedruns is proud to partner with Five Star Games to put on this exciting new Sonic State of Origins Plus event for all Australians. We’ve got the fastest and most incredible Sonic the Hedgehog speedrunners in our community, and they’ll be going head-to-head on the 23rd of June in the arena; at the same time raising money for Game on Cancer, a wonderful cause!”
