Capcom’s Okami HD brings an adventure classic to PS4, Xbox One and PC

There’s two kinds of people in this world — people who played Okami back in 2007 and those who did not. Originally released here in Australia on the PlayStation 2 a full year after its Japanese and American launch, and only in a very limited run (the 2000’s were a dark time), Capcom have announced that Okami HD will launch on current gen consoles and PC this year.

This will be the second time Okami has recieved a fresh coat of paint — it was touched up for both the PlayStation 3 and Wii to differing degrees. Okami HD marks the game’s first ever outing on PC and its debut on an Xbox console.

With an art style crafted to resemble traditional Japanese ink wash painting and a story that pulls directly from traditional Shinto mythologyOkami is the story of the wolf goddess Amaterasu, on a quest to bring the evil Orochi, freed from behind a demonic seal and now ravaging ancient Japan, to heel.

Okami never sold spectacularly well in its heyday but has, in the last decade, gone on to become something of a cult hit, with many regarding it as one of the greatest and most underrated adventure titles in the history of the medium.

Okami HD releases December 12 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
