DOOM is set to recieve a torrent of fresh content over the next few months. That’s according to Marty Stratton from id Software who announced the rash of “new ways to play” at Bethesda’s pre-E3 press event earlier today.
DOOM‘s SnapMap tool will be recieving new construction models, visual themes and props, weapons and more to help content creators build better levels. Doom SnapMap will also be incorporating fresh logic options to allow the building of “true single player experiences.” It will also allow home-devs to bring the game’s weapon wheel over.
DOOM‘s competitive multiplayer has been widely regarded as its weakest point and Bethesda seem to have been paying attention. New game types, like the single-flag CTF mode Exodus and a point capture game called Sector are on the way, among a number of new free-for-all modes like classic deathmatch.
Premium DLC is also on the way. Called Unto The Evil, the pack will contain new multiplayer maps and a new playable demon called the Harvester. Fresh weapons and armour are also included.
The DLC released for DOOM will run the gamut between free and paid content. The paid content can also be obtained through the DOOM season pass.
