Horizon: Zero Dawn made a splash at Sony’s press conference during E3 last year, but we haven’t heard much about it since. Developer Guerilla Games have announced the game has slipped to February 28, 2017. It’s not all bad news — they dropped a shiny new trailer to ease the pain.
“It wasn’t an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it,” said Guerilla’s managing director Hermen Hulst in a post on the official PlayStation Blog. “However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.”
While the delay is really only a couple of months beyond what the developer originally anticipated, it’s nice to see Sony being confident enough in the game not to push Guerilla into rushing to make the original Christmas period release.
The new trailer focuses largely on Aloy, who is the game’s main character. We still don’t know an awful lot about her, but damn if it isn’t three of the prettiest minutes we’ve seen all year.
Horizon: Zero Dawn will release February 28, 2017 exclusively on PlayStation 4.
