E3 2016: Microsoft announces the Xbox One S

Microsoft have opened their E3 2016 press by confirming the long-rumoured updated Xbox One console. The Xbox One S is thinner, contains an internal power supply (no more brick!) and supports 4K video.

The console itself comes in a new white shell and will retail for US$299. It is part of Microsoft’s Play Anywhere campaign. It contains up to a 2TB hard drive and can be positioned vertically or horizontally. The console features an IR blaster which means that there’s no longer a Kinect sensor port. RIP Kinect, we never used you anyway.

The Xbox One S releases in August.
