Ahead of their appearance at Nvidia’s keynote address at CES 2017 today, Bioware and Electronic Arts have unveiled the official release date for their upcoming sci-fi RPG Mass Effect: Andromeda.
The game, which follows on from 2012’s Mass Effect 3 but follows a new crew on a new mission, will launch in Australia on March 23, two days after it’s March 21 launch in the United States. Why the US is getting a two-day head start on the rest of the world is anyone’s guess but we’re pretty salty about it. Bioware made the announcement via their official Mass Effect blog.
There has been fan speculation that the game would launch in late March since about that time last year, following an internal leak of promotional materials that highlighted the release date . Initially slated for release in Q4 2016, EA later pushed it back to a less definitive “Early 2017.”
Keep an eye out for the new trailer, which will drop later today. We’ll bring you that story the moment it happens. For now, however, March has never seemed close and so far away. Fire up the FTL drive, we’re ready to get started.
Mass Effect Andromeda will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
