The next game from Arkane Studios is Redfall. It’s a 4-player co-operative multiplayer game in the vein of Left 4 Dead, except instead of zombies you’ll be battling vampires.
Because this is an Arkane game, it’s fair to assume that level construction and player agency will be core facets of Redfall‘s design. Arkane is known for its open-ended design philosophies. How this will be applied to what’s traditionally been a more linear genre will be a topic of interest for a while to come.
The game features a diverse cast of characters with unique abilities and weapon proficiencies. The game’s vampire enemies have something its competition doesn’t have — personality. The difference Arkane clearly plans to leverage is that, unlike games like Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood, Redfall‘s vampire villains are characters in their own right. They can become their own characters, in addition to being clearly recognisable threats.

While the game does not currently have a confirmed release, Xbox did confirm a launch window of Summer 2022. Redfall will be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, and will be available day one on Game Pass.
Arkane’s forthcoming title, Deathloop, is still slated to launch as a PlayStation 5 exclusive on September 14, 2021. Will any Arkane titles will launch on PlayStation platforms again? Hard to say, but right now the answer seems to be a resounding no.
