New games festival to launch in Western Sydney this weekend

ALT: GAMES, Sydney’s brand new and first major dedicated games festival, will hit Western Sydney this weekend.

Taking place across PHIVE, Parramatta Town Hall, and Parramatta Square, ALT: GAMES will highlight Australian gamers, developers, and industry leaders for a weekend of innovation, creativity, and connection.

Taking place over the 12th and 13th of April, ALT: GAMES will feature several keynote speakers from various teams and projects to discuss the importance of gaming and the industry at large.

Keynote speakers and game developers include:

  • Lisa Havilah, Chief Executive, Powerhouse 

  • Chloe Appleby, ALT: GAMES Festival Curator

  • Richard Garfield, Game Designer and Creator of Magic the Gathering

  • Daniel Mullins, Game Maker and Creator of Inscryption 

  • Ally McLean-Hennessy, Leading Artist, Game Developer, and Writer

  • JoJo Zhou, Award-Winning Indie Developer from Massive Monster

  • Daniel Coppen and Tomo Kihara, Japanese and UK-based artists from Playfool 

  • Steph Panecasio, Managing Editor of GamesHub 

  • GUCK Studio, Creators of Australia’s First Aboriginal Mobile Game, Blaktasia
