ReachOut, Level Up streaming initiative set to bring streamers together to raise funds for youth mental health support

From August the 25th to the 31st, ReachOut Australia will be running its inaugural ReachOut, Level Up streaming initiative, which aims to bring streamers, ambassadors and spokespeople together to raise funds for crucial youth mental health support programs across the nation.

40% of young Australians currently face various mental health challenges, with suicide, unfortunately, being the leading cause of death among those aged between 14 and 25. Reach Out Australia has now worked to support Australia’s youth for over 25 years, with free, online and anonymous resources.

The event will run all week long and be hosted on Twitch. It will also feature a diverse lineup of streamers. Anyone who wants to sign up can also get involved, to host and stream not just games, but a range of creative outlets like arts and crafts for example. You can even go into the draw to earn some epic rewards along the way.

Tracey Campbell, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at ReachOut, commented on the news, stating, “We recognise that after friends and family, the internet is often the first place young people turn to for support when experiencing mental health difficulties. We know that a large portion of young people are both online and gaming, so we are excited to launch this fundraiser to build awareness of ReachOut’s services and connect with these young gamers where they are… By partnering with Twitch streamers, we aim to create awareness among their audiences that there is a safe space available if they’re going through tough times or looking for that extra support”.
