The Saints Row franchise is being treated to a welcome reboot. The zany antics and humour the series is known for appear to be back in full force. In a fresh trailer shown at Gamescom 2021, this reboot will simply be titled Saints Row.
The trailer is centred around a group of four friends, scouting a weapons deal between two rival gangs, which soon turns sour. Our rag tag crew of protagonists are inevitably wrapped up in the fray, engaging in a wild and incredibly humorous car chase jam-packed with stunts, explosions and one-liners. Although the trailer was exclusively cinematic, we can expect similar gameplay to follow, mimicking the variety of escapades your characters are sure to encounter.
Featuring the tag line ‘Self Made’, this story will most likely follow our four characters through the tropes of a rags to riches story, and quite possibly the foundation of the Third Street Saints as we have come to know them. Check it out for yourself in the trailer below:
The game is developed by Volition, creators of the Saints Row series. It will be published by Deep Silver. Its announcement comes eight years after the previous entry, Saint’s Row IV. Last year saw the launch of Saints Row III Remastered.
Saints Row is closer to release than many would have anticipated, hitting shelves and digital stores on February 25, 2022 across previous and next-generation consoles.
