Sydney’s new co-sharing incubator could be the local version of The Arcade indie devs have been waiting for

For independent game devs in Sydney, the dream of having a version of Melbourne’s The Arcade to call their own is still a pipedream. Be that as it may, The Studio Incubator, a communal media work space opening in March, might be the thing that fills the gap until such a place arrives.

The Studio Incubator is a co-sharing workspace backed by sectors private and public that opens its doors on March 1. The venue’s official site claims that its intention is to act as a kind of “launchpad” for media startups, and really anyone else looking to use it. For Sydney game devs starved for places to work and collaborate, this could be the answer.

Part of the Sydney Startup Hub and located on York St in the CDB, The Studio Incubator will provide tenants with multiple support avenues including internships and mentorships, connections with major names in tech like Microsoft and Amazon, a home for regular meetups and networking events across the creative industry spectrum. There are also on-site, state-of-the-art broadcast facilities and tools for AR and VR dev.

If this sounds like something you’d like to get in on, you can register your interest via the official site right here. There’s a short questionaire prior to registering so they can get an idea of who you are, what your field is, what you’re working on, how far along you are, the amount of room you’d need and any facilities you might require.

Good luck, Sydney devs.
